Moisturize these parts before applying tanner to preempt overdarkening: pay attention to dry spots or crevices, as on knuckles. Tanning lotion works best when you apply it with bare hands (gloves can cause unevenness). So coat finger and toenails with Vaseline and scrub palms afterward to avoid staining, says Jeani Roth, owner of Faux Glow Airbrush Tanning Spa in New York City.

"...Fake bake 101 - spray tans are something fun and different to try says Jeani Roth of New York City's Faux Glow Airbrush Tanning Spa..."
"...Make it last - tips for prolonging a spray on tan:
* Exfoliate before the procedure to remove dead skin cells, focusing on rough areas like the elbows, knees and ankles.
* After the procedure don't shower for the recommended period of time (anywhere from 4-12 hours).
* Moisturize your skin twice a day.
* Take quick showers, not baths. swimming in the ocean or a pool will make the tan fade faster..."

Today's airbrush tans do more than impart healthy color. they can also create definition where there is none. Jeani Roth, owner of Manhattan's Faux Glow airbrush tanning spa, sculpts cheekbones, outlines cleavage and even shapes Janet Jackson-worthy six-packs.
"I just spray for an extra couple of seconds on those areas." says Jeani. "Once the soultion dries, it creates shadows that contour." The same effect can be achieved at home with a self-tanner. "I tell clients, if they want extra contouring to spray a little bit more on those areas."

Allure, June 2005"You're going to get addicted to this stuff!" our aesthetician gushed. After hanging up our clothes (and every last stitch of our modesty), we stood as she sprayed us with surgical precision. Inch by inch, our lily white complexion developed into a warm bronze, and we couldn't help but gush a little, too: "I look thinner!" We were eager to flaunt our new color at a party the following night. "Did you just get back from a trip?" a stranger asked, while another declared, "You look Brazilian!" (We're Irish.) After ten days, our color began to fade, and our chemical dependency set in.

Celebs always seem to have a gorgeous glow. Faux Glow owner Jeani Roth dishes on how they get it!
Light Skin:
Stars don't dare go from pale to St. Tropez glow in one fell swoop. Luckily, there are new daily-use lotions that gradually add a little tan. Or to create a slightly deeper color, simply apply a light self-tanner two days in a row.
Medium Skin:
For maximum glow (that still looks genuine), stars with medium skin often start with a relatively light tanner for a few days, and then switch to a dark or deep self-tanner later.
Dark Skin:
Even stars with natural color go deeper and deeper come summer. How? They opt for a dark-tanning formula, and always exfoliate and moisturize between self-tanner applications to avoid blotchiness.
Tips for the perfect self-tan:
Thinking of tanning at home? Jeani Roth, owner of Faux Glow, shares her tricks of the trade:
* Before applying, always exfoliate skin. Steer clear of oil-based scrubs like sugar or salt scrubs, which can prevent tanner from seeping in.
* Dry skin (and hair to avoid droplets) completely.
* Apply a little moisturizer to hands, feet, elbows, face neck & dry patches to prevent tanner from grabbing too much color onto thick or dead skin in these areas.
* Apply in a well-lit room and at night; this will give the color a good eight hours to come out. Work from the feet up.
* Apply in thin coats and let dry 5-10 minutes before dressing. Use a hair dryer to speed up the process if you get antsy.
* Wash the palms of your hands afterward by either applying soap and water to a wash cloth or using a self-tan remover like "Jersey Girl Tan Shimmer Dimmer".
* Wait 9-12 hours before showering or using sloughing products like alpha-hydroxy or glycolic acids.

THIS PAINTING IS ABS-OLUTELY FABULOUS
How many situps does it take to get a sexy six-pack like the one Mariah Carey showed off during Macy's fireworks on Monday?
None!
Mariah's rep claims the songbird's new chiseled torso is the result of "eating right and working out 3 hours a day with her personal trainer," but I just scooted uptown to Faux Glow on Madison Ave. and got myself some insta-abs.
For $95, Faux Glow technicians will paint on abs with a spray gun for pain-free (and instant) chiseling, under the theory that shadows can create the same look as actual muscles. That's a little less than one session with a trainer - and a lot less than liposuction.
Jeani used a spray gun to shoot a stream of frigid color at my stomach, expertly creating contours meant to mimic the look of a real six-pack. Could this be the answer to the tiresome crunch? Well, at least for 7-10 days.
My formerly pale, pasty stomach was suddenly dark and toned - unlike the rest of my body. But Jeani kept spraying and the abs kept contouring.
Afterward, Jeani aimed a cold fan at my belly so the paint wouldn't run (no one wants a three-pack).
